Circulate Your Pennies

Have you ever found a penny on the ground? Did you pick it up or leave it there? Almost every year there is discussion whether the penny should even remain in circulation in the US. Canada stopped producing its penny back in 2013. As of 2016, it was estimated to be 240 billion pennies in circulation, according to Chris Isidore’s article in CNN Money, with roughly two-thirds not circulating due to consumers collecting them in drawers or tucking them away somewhere.

Scripture states that all of our resources belong to the Lord and we are instructed to be faithful stewerts. In other words, take what you have been blessed with and use it. Put your blessing into circulation. Our available resources are more than monetary. What would your world look like tomorrow if you circulated your resources today? How many hands, hearts, and lives would be affected by today’s exchange?

All you have today is a smile? Share it! Saved a little while couponing? Use it to share a meal with a friend. Going to the store today? See if your neighbor needs anything. Our abundance is wrapped up in Him and spills over to those around us. Smiles and laughs. An encouraging word. Time spent together. A thoughtful gesture. These are just the pennies of life we take for granted. Oh, how they add up! Little is much when God is in it!
